APPLE CINNAMON OATMEAL

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2 cups milk (or water for a lighter version)
  • 1 apple, diced (keep the peel on for extra fiber)
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Chopped nuts (like walnuts or almonds), for garnish
  • Extra apple slices and a sprinkle of cinnamon for topping (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Combine ingredients: In a small pot, combine the oats, milk (or water), diced apple, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  2. Cook the oatmeal: Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are tender and the apple pieces have softened.
  3. Sweeten and serve: Stir in the honey or maple syrup to sweeten. Pour into a bowl and top with chopped nuts, extra apple slices, and an extra sprinkle of cinnamon, if desired.

Tips:

  • For extra creaminess, stir in a spoonful of almond butter or peanut butter before serving.
  • Try using steel-cut oats for a chewier texture; just increase cooking time to about 20-25 minutes.
