Ingredients:
For the Waffles:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/3 cup melted butter (or vegetable oil)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Toppings:
- Fresh fruit (strawberries, blueberries, bananas, raspberries, etc.)
- Honey (for drizzling)
- Optional: Whipped cream or Greek yogurt
Instructions:
Step 1: Make the Waffle Batter
- Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring just until combined (do not overmix).
Step 2: Cook the Waffles
- Lightly grease the preheated waffle iron with non-stick spray or butter.
- Pour enough batter into the waffle iron to cover about two-thirds of the grid, and close the lid.
- Cook according to the waffle iron’s instructions (usually 3-5 minutes) until the waffles are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the waffles and repeat with the remaining batter.
Step 3: Add Toppings
- Place the warm waffles on a plate and top with your choice of fresh fruit (such as strawberries, blueberries, bananas, or raspberries).
- Drizzle with honey for sweetness.
- For extra indulgence, you can add a dollop of whipped cream or a spoonful of Greek yogurt.
Step 4: Serve
- Serve the waffles warm with a side of extra honey or syrup for drizzling.
Tips:
- You can substitute whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
- Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the batter for a bit of spice.
- For crispy waffles, avoid stacking them; instead, keep them in a single layer on a cooling rack.
Variations:
- Nutty Twist: Add crushed nuts like almonds, walnuts, or pecans on top for added crunch.
- Tropical: Use tropical fruits like mango, pineapple, and kiwi, and drizzle with coconut syrup.
